Dessert Hummus

I’ve been trying to eat healthier, but my gigantic sweet tooth and my teeny, tiny, little willpower keep getting in the way. There’s no way I’m alone in this, so I decided to start posting some healthy snack recipes to help us all stay on track! Every couple of weeks, I’ll post a new snack recipe that you don’t have to feel guilty about eating. After all, us mommas need snack time too!

This week’s recipe is: DESSERT HUMMUS! I found it on one of those Tasty recipe videos that are all over Facebook and I knew I had to try it out. I made 4 different flavors, and I can’t decide which one is my favorite. They were all delicious, but the best part is that they couldn’t be easier. You literally throw everything into a food processor, and in minutes, you’ve got hummus! Seriously, that’s it.

I’m not even including steps with each flavor because the only steps are: Add ingredients to food processor and blend until smooth. Then put in the fridge for about an hour or until it sets

Here are the four recipes I tried.

Chocolate Brownie

Ingredients:

  • 1 can chickpeas, rinsed & drained
  • 1/3 C maple syrup
  • 1/4 C milk (use the milk of your choice. I used almond milk)
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbl dark cocoa powder
  • Top w/coconut, chocolate chips, or nuts

Banana Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 can chickpeas, rinsed & drained
  • 2 Tbl honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • Top w/walnuts

Cake Batter

Ingredients:

  • 1 can chickpeas, rinsed & drained
  • 1/2 C nut butter
  • 1/3 C honey
  • 1/4 C milk (use the milk of your choice. I used almond milk)
  • 1 Tbl vanilla
  • Pinch of salt
  • Mix in 2Tbl sprinkles
  • Top w/sprinkles

Sweet Potato Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 can chickpeas, rinsed & drained
  • 1 puréed sweet potato
  • 1/4 C maple syrup
  • 1/4 C milk (use the milk of your choice. I used almond milk)
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Top w/nuts & sprinkle of brown sugar

How yummy do those look?!? Clockwork from top: Chocolate Brownie, Banana Bread, Cake Batter, Sweet Potato Pie

Done! Each recipe took about 5 minutes and could be served with fruit or graham crackers. These are great to take to a party and would make the cutest hostess gifts! I’ve got some ideas brewing for other variations on this same idea so stay tuned! For more recipes and updates on new posts, you can find me on FacebookInstagram, and Pinterest.
